Meet Chief Doug Dickens

Doug Dickens is a fire and emergency services professional with 34 years of experience. In 1989, he began as a firefighter and EMT in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) of Augusta, Georgia, before serving in the U.S. Air Force, where he was deployed to the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) for Operation Southern Watch, earning multiple commendations. After his military service, he returned to firefighting in the CSRA of Augusta and later joined the Douglas County Fire Department in 2005. Rising through the ranks, he now serves as Division Chief, dedicated to strengthening leadership and improving the department and community.

A strong advocate for lifelong learning, Doug actively pursues higher education and professional development opportunities. He encourages others to advance their education while remaining committed to his own growth through leadership courses, conferences, and academic pursuits. He holds an associate’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in business management and is nearing completion of a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration.

He has been married to his wife, Shannon, for 10 years, and together, they have three wonderful children.
